BURNS BOG CONSERVATION SOCIETY
Can’t come to Burns Bog? Let us bring Burns Bog to YOU!
Burns Bog Workshops are hands-on and interactive with displays, activities, and demonstrations designed to teach your class all about Burns Bog!
Your students will learn what makes a Bog ecosystem different from a forest or a stream. They will get to touch and identify different bog plants, including the sponge-like sphagnum moss and the spiky shore pine. They will explore how different plants and animals are able to survive in a bog environment, and how diversity in our food web can strengthen our vulnerable ecosystems.
Give your class the chance to discover how Burns Bog works hard for plants and animals, and what it can do for people too!
All material in the workshops aligns with updated BC Curricular Competencies, and are adapted for grades K-12.
Duration: 90 mins
Bonus: All workshops include an activity from our teacher resource book (Full resource manuals “For Peat’s Sake” or “A Crane’s Eye View” are available for purchase when you book your workshop online).
