Frequently Asked Questions

What will my child/children do at Summer Day Camps?

Our programming includes crafts, games, and exploratory activities related to Bog ecosystems, plants, and animals – all tailored to meet the theme of the week. In general, Summer Day Camps are meant to develop a positive relationship between children and nature. All our camps prioritize experiential learning first in order to foster a more inquiry-based learning environment.

I want to register my children for the same camp but they are in different camp age groups.

Our camp themes are best suited to the age ranges they are currently being offered to. Please call the office at 604-572-0373 or email programs@burnsbog.org  if you have further questions.

My child is still 5 – can I register them for Summer Day Camps?

Yes! We allow children age 5 that have completed Kindergarten to register for age 6-8 camps.

What forms do I fill out, and by when?

You will receive a welcome email upon registration, which includes the forms you will need to complete and submit. All mandatory forms must be completed and submitted two weeks prior to the associated camp start date. If forms are not received within this time period, your payment will be refunded (minus your deposit), and your spot(s) will be given to another family on our waitlist.

This policy is in place in order to prioritize camper safety and the wellbeing of our staff, as well as to maintain fairness for all potential camp attendees. Please contact us at programs@burnsbog.org if you require any assistance or support in regard to these forms and their submission.

I still have questions – who can I contact?

Please call the office at 604-572-0373 or  contact the Education and Outreach Coordinator at programs@burnsbog.org.

I want to cancel my summer camp booking – what should I do ?

To receive a full refund, the camp(s) in question must be cancelled one week before the date they start. If this is not possible due to an emergency or extenuating circumstance, please contact programs@burnsbog.org to discuss the best option going forward.

Where do Camps activities take place?

Many activities take place in the Day Camp compound, near the first boardwalk entrance from the parking lot. Other activities take place throughout the Delta Nature Reserve along a network of boardwalks. Campers are outside all day, rain or shine.

I’m curious about more day-to-day camp information. Where or how can I find this?

You will receive a Welcome Package following the completion of registration.  Welcome Packages include information on sign-in/out, late pick-ups/arrivals, our behaviour policy and a “What to Bring” checklist.

My child has learning or behavioural exceptionalities – How can I effectively communicate this with staff?

Following registration, you will receive a Camper Questionnaire that will allow you to provide Camps staff with as much information as you feel necessary regarding your child’s learning and behaviour, as well as anything else you would like staff to be aware of regarding your child.

What if I can’t afford to pay up front?

To book any week for the summer day camps, we do require full payment. Please reach out at programs@burnsbog.org if this is a barrier or source of hardship for you, so that we can discuss the best options for your current needs.
