Job Description
Join our summer education team in delivering quality environmental education to kids in the community this summer! In this role, you will take on the following tasks and responsibilities as one of our Junior Camp Counsellors for our youth day camp program. The individuals in this role will report directly to the Day Camp Leader. There are two positions to be filled.
- Assist in the design of educational activities (e.g. crafts, DIY activities) and games for different ages of campers
- Prepare inventory list of needed supplies, with a focus on recycled and reused materials
- Deliver engaging nature-based programming to campers (age 6-12), effectively communicating concepts with age-appropriate language
- Supervise and ensure safety procedures and protocols throughout all camp activities, and ensure the safety of volunteers and campers
- Communicate with caregivers in a professional manner
- Provide input for final internal report on 2023 summer camps
- Other reasonable duties as required
We are looking for applicants who have some experience either as recent participants or as leaders in summer camps. The successful applicant will be a responsible individual who works well in a team and who is willing to work outdoors in the Delta Nature Reserve in a range of weather conditions.
Applicants must be enrolled in Grade 11, 12 or in a post-secondary educational institution at the time of application. Working hours and/or start date are flexible during the month of June to accommodate applicants still enrolled in high school.
English required, all additional languages spoken an asset. An up-to-date First Aid certificate and criminal record check is required for this role, paid for by the Society.
